A great and well deserved present just a few days before his 40^th birthday: Franck Cammas, winner of the 2011 / 2012 Volvo Ocean Race, has been elected “2012 Sailor of the Year” (France) during the traditional “Night of the Champions” which took place in Paris at the Edward VII Theatre.

After being awarded the prize, Franck Cammas declared: “ I am very proud because in this room there are so many great sailors. Yachting is a vast discipline which embraces very different categories of sailors. It is therefore difficult to judge them and make a ranking: an Olympic and an ocean single-hand sailor are at the opposite poles ! But by working hard you can go from one to the other, and it is very exciting for us to have the opportunity to do so many different experiences in one lifetime. This is why sailing is such a great sport.”
